Paul Silverstone is an internationally recognized naval authority known for his many books and articles on warships. His most recent publications are the first four of five volumes of "The U.S. Navy Warship Series" published by Routledge .

Volume I "The Sailing Navy 1774-1854" and volume II "Civil War Navies 1855-1883" were published in 2001. Volume III “The New Navy 1883-1922" followed, including the Spanish American War and World War I, and Volume IV “The Navy of World War II 1922-1947" came out in December 2007. The fifth volume “The Navy of the Nuclear Age 1947-2007" is scheduled to be published before the end of 2008.

He is also the author of "Our Only Refuge, Open the Gates! Clandestine Immigration to Palestine 1938-1948," the story of Jewish refugees and the ships of Aliyah Bet. He has spoken on this subject to meetings of genealogical societies and the American Veterans of Israel. Check out our new extended on-site Aliya Bet section. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies and of the Jewish Genealogical Society in New York (treasurer 2000-2007. He spoke at recent JGS Conferences in New York, London, and Las Vegas.

He is a resident of New York City and has been a student of naval and maritime history for many years. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and a law degree from Harvard.
